Telemedicine Appointments
Absecon Veterinary Hospital now offers telemedicine appointments for select concerns. A virtual visit lets you speak with a veterinarian from the comfort of home, get guidance on next steps, and determine whether your pet needs to be seen in-hospital.
Availability is limited, and telemedicine visits are scheduled in advance, just like a regular appointment.

What a telemedicine visit can help with:
Telemedicine is best for non-emergency concerns, follow-ups, and situations where a visual assessment and conversation can guide care, such as:
-
Skin irritation, itching, or minor rashes
-
Ear concerns (mild redness, head shaking, “gunky” ears)
-
Eye irritation (mild squinting or discharge)
-
Mobility questions (lameness, stiffness, “not themselves”)
-
Medication refills or progress checks (when appropriate)
-
Post-op or chronic condition rechecks
When telemedicine is NOT appropriate:
Some problems require an exam, diagnostics, or immediate treatment. Do not choose telemedicine if your pet is experiencing:
-
Trouble breathing or blue/pale gums
-
Collapse, extreme weakness, or uncontrolled pain
-
Seizures
-
Suspected bloat, toxin ingestion, or heatstroke
-
Uncontrolled bleeding
-
Repeated vomiting/diarrhea with lethargy or dehydration
-
Straining to urinate or unable to urinate
-
Major wounds, broken bones, or significant swelling
-
Any situation you feel is an emergency
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Because we can’t perform a hands-on exam during a virtual visit, telemedicine has limitations. Our veterinarian may recommend an in-person evaluation if needed to provide safe, accurate care. Fees apply for telemedicine appointments, and limited availability means appointment times may book quickly.
