Meet Dr. Rachel Scotland-Aschenbach, VMD

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Rachel Scotland-Aschenbach is a compassionate veterinarian who believes in a collaborative approach to pet care. As a member of the AVMA and NJVMA, she views the relationship between owners and veterinarians as a team effort.

Her personal philosophy is guided by the simple question, "What would I do if this were my pet?"—a perspective rooted in her own experiences.

Dr. Scotland-Aschenbach’s love for emergency medicine stems from a heartbreaking personal experience: the loss of her dog, Sunny, in a car accident when she was young. This event fueled her desire to ensure pets have access to care in their time of need. She also credits her "soul dog," Buster, for teaching her invaluable lessons during her college and vet school years.

Her professional interests are focused on emergency and behavioral medicine. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, training her dog, Rip, for therapy work, and spending time with her children. She hopes to one day get back to riding horses. Her home is a busy one, with four dogs—Rip, Luna, Blaze, and Bodie—and five cats—Pete, Kion, Schmidt, Stella, and Stevie.
