Meet Dr. Molly Northrop
When asked what motivated her to become a veterinarian, Dr. Molly Northrop
acknowledges that she "caught the bug" because of her childhood
experience raising horses and interacting with her equine veterinarian.
In 1993 Dr. Northrop earned her bachelor's degree in biology and graduated
with distinction from Swarthmore College. She went on to earn her Doctorate
of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of
Veterinary Medicine in 1998. Our hospital welcomed Dr. Northrop to our
staff in June 2023.
"Being a veterinarian allows me to practice medicine and surgery on a diverse population of patients and situations," Dr. Northrop says of her career choice. Her professional veterinary interests are emergency veterinary medicine and surgery and she is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Prior to becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Northrop volunteered at the Duke Primate Center and worked with lemurs. At home, she cares for her own pets: a dog named Weasel and a cat named Bisquit. In her spare time, she enjoys scuba diving, birding, knitting and miniature art work.
