Meet Dr. Shelbe Vollmer, VMD, MPH
Dr. Shelbe Vollmer grew up in Columbus, Michigan where she would work with
the local veterinary clinic and rehabilitate orphaned racoons. She loved learning
and caring for them. Dr. Vollmer also spent a year volunteering at a local
animal shelter for a year, worked at a mixed animal clinic for a year, and did an
equine fellowship for 3 months. She enjoys the variability with the veterinary
field, because no 2 cases are the same.
Dr. Vollmer graduated from Michigan State University in 2013 with a Bachelor
of Science in Zoology. She continued her studies at Michigan State University
and received her Veterinary Medicine Doctorate in 2021. She was given the Student Surgical Proficiency Award from the ACVS Foundation. Dr. Shelbe Vollmer is a part of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Her professional veterinary interests include surgery, general practice, ophthalmology, and dermatology. She earned her master’s in public health in 2016 from the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Dr. Vollmer lives with her husband, Eric, who is an epidemiologist, and their grey domestic shorthair cat, Eugene. In her free time, she enjoys refinishing furniture, reading, cooking, running, going to the movies, and spending time with friends & family.
